Panador's Ultimate Panama Hats™ include features that make sunburn a plague of the past. While not strictly traditional, we're confident you will appreciate these modern updates to the Panama hat. Our Ultimate Panama Hats™ begin, like all genuine Panama hats, with toquilla straw from the carludovica palm that grows at the base of the Andes Mountains. The straw is hand-woven by the skilled artisans of Cuenca.

Once woven, the process of washing, drying, and softening the Panama hat body takes place in Ecuador. After the Panama hat has been shaped and softened, the handmade shell is shipped to our finishers in the US where Solarweave sun protection, a Teflon coating, and a Coolmax hatband are applied to the hat.

Solarweave

Solarweave blocks the sun and provides 100% UV protection. Solarweave is a fabric bonded inside the hat's brim and crown. The Solarweave process is available in only a few US factories.

Teflon Finishing

We apply a teflon finish to the outside of our Ultimate Panama Hats™ that repels stains and protects against water damage.

Coolmax Hatband

The final touch to our Ultimate Panama Hat™ is the Coolmax hatband, which is more comfortable, effective, and durable than a traditional hatband.

The Coolmax hat band actually improves the way Panador's Ultimate Panama Hats™ fit. This soft, elastic material shapes to your head in a way no traditional hat band can. It wicks away moisture and helps keep your head even cooler.
